National STEM Contest 2024
STEM Education President’s Introduction
STEM Education LLC, based in Lake Charles, is the parent company of STEM Education and holds exclusive copyrights for developed training programmes in the USA.
STEM Education has developed a STEM national contest in Greece and South Europe for the past decade and is now implementing it in Lake Charles and Louisiana. The first pilot competition in Louisiana is “The City I am Dreaming of Living: Smart City.”
The competition, which has grown in size over ten years, involves contestants from each geographical region participating in headquarters and qualifying for the Panhellenic competition.
Teams have six months to prepare and present projects based on a competition theme. Students form teams, mentor coaches, parents manage time, and coaches are free. The competition involves analysis, opinion exchange, source management, group decisions, and the implementation of ideas. Knowledge exchange is free, with a perpetual cycle.
The programme teaches young students science, programmeming, and automation, fostering creativity and social citizenship. It covers physics, mathematics, and engineering, introducing simple machines and measurements in primary. With support from strategic partner COSMOTE, it has equipped dozens of primary schools and trained hundreds of teachers for free.
The National Contest promotes STEM education in Greece, enabling students to acquire 21st-century skills. Participation invites educational communities to respond to Greece’s technological convergence, as demonstrated by the quality of student work.
Mark Arseneault's introduction
The Future Engineers’ STEM Competition 2024 is an excellent opportunity for students in Louisiana to showcase their STEM skills and compete with other students from across state and around the world. The contest promotes STEM education and encourages students to develop their problem-solving abilities. The competition also provides an opportunity for students to gain recognition for their achievements and to inspire others to pursue STEM education and careers. This Louisiana STEM initiative aims to better prepare students to seek a STEM degree in college or enter the workforce having earned certifications in high-wage career sectors. The initiative emphasizes connections across the individual STEM disciplines and offers students an opportunity to develop their problem-solving abilities.
