AI Lab Mate

The educational program “AI Lab Mate” is designed for 4-5th grade elementary students and invites them to take on the role of young engineers designing and building robotic assistants for scientists. Through an interdisciplinary scenario, children create smart constructions that support different scientific fields, such as a robot that helps a chemist investigate solutions, a physicist make field measurements, or a doctor with a medication reminder device. Using micro:bit, sensors, artificial intelligence cameras, 3D design and printing, students program robotic assistants that respond to stimuli, communicate, and adapt to their environment. They develop technological literacy, computational thinking, and understand how science and technology are applied to solving real-world problems.
The creative process is completed with the integration of technology, where students add sensors and actuators to their handmade projects. In this way, they implement their first automations, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern programming. Through this holistic experience, children cultivate their geometric perception, develop fine motor skills, and strengthen their confidence as creators.
